ST. PATRICK’S FESTIVAL BERLIN 2014

ST. PATRICK’S FESTIVAL BERLIN 2014

This years' St. Patrick's Festival Berlin takes place one day before Irish Paddy's day with a parade starting from Plaenterwald on Sunday 16th March at 2pm.

The organisers of the event Dara Drea O'Neill and Fernanda Parente imported this famed celebration of Irish culture to Berlin 4 years ago. When it kicked off in 2011 the parade had 150 followers. The next year, the event was already supported by the Irish embassy which lit up the Alexanderplatz TV tower in green. 2000 people danced to bagpipers playing Irish folk music on the Berlin-Kreuzberg route which culminated in a closing concert full to the brim with Irish bands. Last year the festival attained record numbers of visitors with over 5000 people coming to enjoy the attractions.

This year's parade route leads to Arena Berlin where at 3pm the festival stages open for the Irish band concerts and local food tasting. On Monday 17th March the supporting cultural programme begins with Irish Film on Tour, a showcase of recent Irish cinema in a collection of short and feature films previously unreleased in Germany screening over a period of three days at the Babylon cinema in Mitte. From the 17th to the 19th March you will be able to see among others, the Sundance award winning animated film “Irish Folk Furniture.” Tickets for these screenings are available now at http://www.babylonberlin.de/Prowin-Reservierung/.
