ZEHA BERLIN

In their latest sneaker range, the company ZEHA Berlin has devoted itself to more than 8 years within the retrospective of shoes. This merges their complete knowledge of leather manufactures, timeless design and urban needs in a shoe. Therefore they have received from its wearer and deservedly so the name "Ideal". In four designs and 11 colours, the Berlin label created the 2011 new IDEAL sneaker collection under the reminiscence of their namesake Carl Hässner who laid the foundation of the company ZEHA 114 years ago.

The urban orientation led ZEHA Berlin to a unisex sneaker that is bestowed a smooth fit and sporty elegance by its slender lasts. Using a special wax technique to the high quality leather and a reluctance in colour, the sneaker grants timelessness in ZEHA Berlins’ familiar quality. A feature of double stripes running towards each other at an angle with a functional design that today gives the shoe its recognized value. IDEAL sneakers are lined with 100% buffalo leather; this ensures a high wearing comfort and an optimal foot environment. The ankle-high sneaker line of the IDEAL collection are also characterized by innovative closure techniques, they are available in three variations. Of particular note are the models of the style "903", which are provided with a push-button. This is to round out the overall approach in a unique and nuanced detail, but without jostling to the foreground.

The sneaker collection of ZEHA concludes and received from its wearers in a social media survey the name "Ideal".

The iconic shoe brand ZEHA was founded in 1897 in Weida, Germany, as a traditional leather shoe factory under Carl Hässner and preceded during the wild 20s with an assured sense of style quickly to a coveted "shoe-object" for artists and bohemians. Due to the German division, in 1948 the company focused its core competencies in the prestigious sports area. That same year, in Hohenleuben, Germany, a groundbreaking new factory was built including their own production line. 1954, the trademark of two stripes running towards each other at an angle was registered and the brand ZEHA was born. From 1960, the company was the official supplier of the DDR sports teams in 60 disciplines. They produced football boots with studded soles and spikes and brought out the most lightweight-racing shoe in the world. A re-privatization after a state involvement during Communistic times in Germany was unsuccessful, in 1993 the production stopped.

In 2002, the Made in Germany-company was rediscovered by Torsten Heine and Alexander Barré. In 2003 they purchased the trademark rights and started gradually building up the company ZEHA Berlin with sportive original designs and timeless footwear, called Urban Classics.

The history of the company stands for the rise, fall and successful rebuilding of a brand that is today represented in 12 countries on three continents. Although set up on the pragmatically Zeitgeist, co-owner Heine expresses the beginning as follows "A not very precise idea of what to expect, meaning at the very beginning rather the idealist in one is of importance.". ZEHA Berlin offers today a consequence of a unique combination of history, traditional craftsmanship, high quality materials and urbanity, and all very conscious "Made in Europe".
